UFC returns to Fight island On October 30, they announced the company on Tuesday.
UFC 267 will officially take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and will feature a series of fan events titled ‘Abu Dhabi Showdown Week.’ The event is part of an agreement the UFC signed with the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi in 2019. The agreement runs through 2023.
Abu Dhabi took on a major role on the UFC schedule last year after the creation of Fight Island. UFC worked with Abu Dhabi to create a bubble environment to promote events during the coronavirus pandemic starting in July 2020.
The UFC has not announced a main event for UFC 267. However, a light heavyweight title fight between Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira has been discussed, according to sources. A bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan has also been discussed, sources said, but the contracts have not been signed.
Broadcast plans for the numbered event have yet to be announced, but UFC President Dana White told TSN last week that the hope is to stream UFC 267 on the US television network and present it on Prime time locally in Abu Dhabi.
