According to Rusty Hardin, the quarterback’s attorney, the FBI is investigating allegations of extortion in one of the lawsuits filed against Deshaun Watson.
HOUSTON – Allegations of sexual assault and misconduct against the quarterback Deshaun watson of the Houston Texans are being investigated by the FBI, the player’s lawyer reported this Wednesday, Rusty hardin.
Hardin also said that Watson spoke with him FBI about extortion allegations regarding one of the 23 lawsuits filed against the quarterback, of which 22 remain active.
“In April, FBI approached us and told us that they were investigating an issue as to whether one of Mr. [Tony] Buzbee had committed extortion in a way that demanded money from Deshaun, or what would they do in case of not paying, “he said Hardin at a press conference.
On Friday, Buzbee, who represents the women suing Watson, told the “League of Justice” website that the FBI met with him to discuss Watson and he contacted several plaintiffs.
“I don’t think they are investigating Deshaun“Hardin said.” What they are investigating are the allegations that Buzbee did on their demands. I didn’t know until yesterday, and then I checked it and it’s true. They are doing it”.
Last month, Hardin told John Barr of ESPN that 10 women have filed complaints regarding Watson with the Houston Police Department. Eight of the women, according to Hardin, are among the 22 plaintiffs who have initiated civil action against Watson.
Hardin said Watson has not spoken with the NFL as part of your investigation of the lawsuits.
“The NFL he regularly tries not to contact the defendant and his attorneys, and to seek evidence from them until the criminal investigation is complete, “he said Hardin. “Historically, they want to make sure they don’t interfere with the criminal investigation. I have not had contact with the NFL Except for an initial call to say, when the time is appropriate, we will fully cooperate. “
