Griezmann returned to Atlético de Madrid and the Frenchman dedicated a few words of thanks to the fans and the Barcelona club
In the final stretch of the transfer market in Europe, Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid agreed to the transfer of Antoine Griezmann in a negotiation with a purchase option of 40 million euros at the end of the season.
Hired by Barcelona in 2019 in exchange for 120 million euros, Griezmann did little with the Catalan club’s shirt and shared a message on his social networks this Wednesday to say goodbye to the culé fans.
“Dear Culers. I say goodbye thanking you for your love. I gave everything for this shirt, I have been involved with this great club and I am sad that I was not able to enjoy more of you in the stands, but proud to have been one of yours“wrote the Gaul.
For its part, the Catalan team fired Griezmann thanking him in French and shared a short video with some of his best moments with the Blaugrana shirt.
Barcelona has worked to reduce its wage bill and has opted for Griezmann’s departure as a “great relief” for the finances of the coming months. In the last moments of the transfer window, Barcelona secured the loan of Dutch striker Luuk de Jong from Sevilla.
