Jerome Boateng, German international champion of the world in 2014 and of the Champions League (2013 and 2020), has signed for Olympique de Lyon for two seasons from the Bayern Munich, in which he spent the last decade.
On the verge of turning 33, the central defender arrives free after his tie with Bayern ended.
“We did not imagine closing an agreement like this, it was all thanks to Peter (Bosz, Lyon coach), who presented the project to him”, declared in the presentation the sports director, the Brazilian Juninho Pernambucano.
“We have felt that he is still motivated”, added the leader.
For his part, the president of the Lyon, the veteran Jean-Michel Aulas, congratulated himself for the “reactivity” he showed Boateng, an attitude that he deemed essential to be able to close a deal before the end of the market, last midnight.
“We are very happy to host a world champion,” declared Aulas.
