The 2021 season of Dana White’s Contender Series continues to add opportunities for Mexican fighters and the Chihuahuan Manuel ‘Loco’ Torres will face the american Kolton Englund in the function of next October 26, as confirmed by sources to ESPN Sports.
Torres, a native of Ciudad Madera, Chihuahua, is 11-2 as a professional and is coming off an impressive submission win over Carlos Cañada with a guillotine at 25 seconds into the first round last June at UWC 27. Following confirmations from Victor Altamirano (CDMX), Daniel Zellhuber (CDMX) and Genaro Valdez (Baja California Sur), would be the fourth Mexican-born fighter to seek a contract within the UFC via the Contender Series.
Like Valdez, Torres, 26, trains at the Entram Gym in the city of Tijuana, with coach Raúl Arvizu, coach of UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno.
Englund (9-3) is also coming off a spectacular finish, knocking out in the third round Alec williams in the Texan promoter Fury FC on July 25 in Houston.
The fifth season of Dana White’s Contender Series will kick off on August 31 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and will have episodes every Tuesday until November 2.
