The 25-year-old defensive back is coming off a season in which he played nine games as a starter for Jacksonville.
RENTON – The Seattle Seahawks added depth to one of the positions they cared most about, acquiring the cornerback on Monday Sidney Jones IV of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The cornerback position emerged as one of the great uncertainties for Seattle before the season. Jones will return to the city where he became a star in the University of Washington.
It is expected that Jacksonville receive a Draft selection in one of the final rounds.
Jones, 25, was selected to the All-Pac 12 first team in his last season in Washington. But his professional career was hit hard before it started.
Jones tore the Achilles tendon in his left leg on Pro Day in Washington in 2017. Even so, Philadelphia Eagles he was drafted in the second round, but he played just 10 games in his first two seasons with Philly.
Jones started just 12 games in 2019 with Philadelphia before being discharged before starting the previous campaign. Signed with Jacksonville and played nine games, six as a starter. He finished the season with nine passes defended, two interceptions and 26 tackles.
