World Rugby announced that four Sevens circuits are suspended

After the success of the Olympic Games. from tokyo the seven does not manage to put together a competition schedule due to the onslaught and constant changes produced by the pandemic of COVID-19 in the world. World Rugby announced that the Singapore and Cape Town stages scheduled for October 29-30 and December 10-12 respectively, will not be held in 2021. “World Rugby and the host organizations had to make this regrettable but necessary decision with the health and well-being of players, supporters and the general public as a priority; everyone is looking forward to the return of international rugby sevens to both destinations in 2022 ”, reports the highest body of rugby.

It was also agreed that Sydney (Australia) and Hamilton (New Zealand) will not be part of the calendar in 2022 due to the travel and logistics challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic in this region. There are advanced negotiations for replace these events in the 2022 season.

The full schedule from the World Rugby Sevens Series 2022 will be announced this month. The rugby of 7 will have an appealing schedule with the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham from July 29 to 31 and will conclude with the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town from September 9 to 11.

The action will return this month with a couple of men’s tournaments in Canada, along with two women’s four-team tournaments, in Vancouver on September 18-19 and Edmonton on September 25-26. Given the unusual circumstances of the pandemic, there will be no relegation from the 2021 circuit.

The events in Canada will be part of the 2021 circuit, as the planned schedule update now has Dubai hosting two combined men’s and women’s tournaments to kick off the following year’s series. The Emirates Dubai 7s will be played behind closed doors on November 26 and 27, followed by a second stage on December 3 and 4, allowing supporters access to the popular event at The Sevens Stadium.
