This Saturday the 2021/22 season of the France Top 14 with four games, among which the Parisian classic stands out among Stade Fracais and Racing 92. The rest of the date will be completed on Sunday with two more matches, one of which will be played by the finalists of the previous tournament, La Rochelle and Toulouse.
Biarritz 27-15 Bordeux (Saturday)
Biarritz’s return to the Top 14 was perfect. The team that rose last season overwhelmingly defeated Bordeux, who at the end of the match managed to find a reaction, but it was too late. Thanks to a strong performance from Herron, who finished the match with a try and 5 penalty kicks, Biarritz built up a solid 14-point lead in the first half and kept up the overwhelming pace during the start of the match. However, with just a quarter-match remaining and a 24-point lead, Biarritz slowed down and allowed Bordeux to grow and get closer to the scoreboard with tries from Roussel and Moefana.
Castres 16 – 12 PAU (Saturday)
With the presence of Benjamín Urdapilleta, author of a try, a conversion and a penalty, and the Uruguayan Santiago Arata, with a good game, Castres had to battle to beat Pau 16 to 12 in their debut this season. For Pau, all the points came through his opening Zac Henry, who contributed three penalties and a drop. The match was defined at the end, with a penalty from the former Bordeaux player, Benjamin Botica, who replaced Urdapilleta in the 52nd minute.
Brive 36 – 15 Perpignan (Saturday)
Brive did not give Perpignan the best welcome on their return to the French Top 14. With the presence of Axel Muller, the winners settled things in the first half. The two tries supported by Tevita Ratuva and Enzo Hervre, who also contributed two conversions, a drop and three penalties, made a clear difference (26 to 9) that was irrecoverable for the yellow and red jerseys. In addition, Brive continued to manage the match times and widened the margin with a new conquest of Setareki Bituniyata and a solid defense that kept the ingoal invulnerable.
Stade Francais 21-36 Racing 92 (Saturday)
The highlight of Saturday’s day was starred in Stade Francais and Racing 92. In this Parisian classic at the start of the season, the Albiceleste team triumphed comfortably, marking differences based on the efficiency of their kickers and managed to go to rest 20- 6 above. Despite the reaction of Stade Francais in the complement, Racing 92 knew how to maintain control of the match and, with a try and a penalty in 5 minutes, marked definitive distances. Great performance by Juan Imhoff, who starred in one of the best individual plays, which culminated in the Taoififenua try, on the first date of this new edition of the Top 14.
