Defender missed virtually the entire training camp with a bad back
GREEN BAY – Los Angeles’ outside linebacker Green Bay Packers, Za’Darius Smith, trained on a limited basis Monday, after missing virtually all of training camp with a back problem.
Smith he had participated in only one training session during the camp, and that was on August 16. The specialist in pressuring quarterbacks of Pro bowl participated in individual exercises this Monday, with the Packers enlisting to open the regular season against the New Orleans Saints on Jacksonville, Florida.
The party was moved from New orleans due to the impact of Hurricane Ida in the region.
Smith was on the unrelated football injury list because of his back problem during the first 12 practice sessions of the Packers. He trained on August 16, but was sidelined from the rest of training camp, raising questions about his availability for the start of the season.
Smith scored 12.5 sacks last season after scoring 13.5 in the 2019 season. He is about to begin his third season with the Packers after spending four years with the Baltimore Ravens.
