FIRST A

Champagnat vs. French Sports

HOW DO THEY GET THERE: After five dates played, Champagnat is one of the two undefeated in the category. Just two points behind the only leader, Atlético del Rosario, the Maristas come from achieving a notable triumph in Gonnet, where an agonizing drop at the end of the game against La Plata, gave them the fourth success of the year, this time by 28-26. Deportiva did not start well and lost in the first four days. Only in the fifth did they find the first celebration and beat Lomas by 28 to 20.

WHAT DO THEY SEEK: It looks solid to the team led by Federico Villanueva, Facundo Villanueva and Iván Hansen. They showed that they are good in defense and good decisions are made, especially at the time of closing the games. In Deportiva Francesa, Emiliano Rachid and all the staff celebrated the first success in five dates, and recalled the difficulties they had on the second day when they could not appear for the Covid cases before San Patricio.

BACKGROUND: In 2019 they played on both wheels of Primera A with two wins by Champagnat by 15 to 10 and 18 to 16. Deportiva has not triumphed as a visitor since 2014 when they took it by 38 to 14.

They complete: National Bank vs. Pueyrredón, Olivos vs. Mariano Moreno, San Carlos vs. La Plata, Lomas Athletic vs. San Albano, Curupaytí vs. Los Matreros, and Atlético del Rosario vs. St. Patrick.

FIRST B

Naval Lyceum vs. Manuel Belgrano

HOW DO THEY GET THERE: The Primera B is very interesting and competitive after five days. Only two undefeated were left in the category, Liceo Naval is one of them, one point below San Cirano, with five wins each. William comes from winning at Daom, 31-24 in a match where she was not lacking in difficulties to take him away. Manuel Belgrano comes a step back, with only one fall, on the third date against SITAS. He comes from beating San Fernando as a visitor by 30 to 22.

WHAT DO THEY SEEK: They are two teams that had their passage through the URBA Top 12 not long ago. The ups and downs and the restructuring are found in the First B, although this season with certain expectations of fighting for the only promotion, in a division where San Cirano started as the favorite.

BACKGROUND: In the last season of the URBA they met twice and in both Manuel Belgrano prevailed in good form by 35 to 24 and 38 to 5. In 2017 it was the last victory of Liceo, in Núñez, by 30 to 24.

They complete: San Andrés vs. San Fernando, Hurling vs. Gymnastics and Fencing, Delta RC vs. University of La Plata, San Cirano vs. Don Bosco, San Martín vs. SITAS, and City of Bs.As. vs. Daom.

FIRST C

Military High School vs. Vincentians

HOW DO THEY GET THERE: Partidazo is the one that will take place in this category between Military High School and Vicentinos. The locals come from losing undefeated on the last date in their visit to the Italian Club by 18-0, after four consecutive wins. Vicentinos looks an ideal start, obtained the 25 points in dispute, with five consecutive wins with bonuses. On the fifth date they thrashed Centro Naval by 57-22 and were the only leaders in the category.

WHAT DO THEY SEEK: Liceo descended in 2019 with a weak campaign in Primera B, where it was last after 26 dates. In First “C” is one of the clubs that should be among the four semifinalists, a place that for now they occupy as the fourth in the area. In Vicentinos there is a climate of optimism, after accumulating triumphs since the tournament began. Risk commitments are beginning to arrive, so the visit to Lomas Hermosa is taken as one of them.

BACKGROUND: They have only met three times since Vicentinos joined URBA rugby nine years ago. The last ones were in 2017, with the victory of Liceo Militar in the first round by 45 to 19 and Vicentinos in the revenge by a tight 40 to 38.

They complete: Italian Club vs. El Retiro, Naval Center vs. Quilmes University Circle, Virreyes vs. Atlético y Progreso, CASA de Padua vs. Old Georgian, Lanús RC vs. Areco RC., And Monte Grande v. Luján RC

SECOND

Albatros vs. The Cedars

HOW DO THEY GET THERE: Clean and clean. This is how they took the decline in 2019 in Barrio Hernández. Albatros started this year with new challenges and another position, which was reflected in the great start they had in the Second Division. Five successes in a row and a position only surpassed by CAR and Mercedes, the three undefeated in the category. La Plata come from achieving a tight victory against GEI, 26-24. Los Cedros did not start well, only two wins in five dates is not enough for a club with antecedents in other divisions. To make matters worse on the fifth date they did not have a good time and lost in San Miguel by 39 to 6.

WHAT DO THEY SEEK: In a short tournament, with only one wheel to play and only one promotion, points lost at the start are difficult to regain. It would seem in that context that Los Cedros need to quickly recover from those two falls. For Albatros the focus seems to be different. The wins give him a lot of confidence and his eyes are focused on the positions at the top of the table.

BACKGROUND: They shared a division in 2018 when they faced each other in the First “C”. They tied in the Los Cedros court, 5-5 and those of San Miguel won in José Hernández by 24 to 17 in the first round.

They complete: San Marcos vs. San Miguel RHC, Tigre RC vs. Shot Federal of San Pedro, Argentine Rugby vs. La Salle, St. Brendan’s vs. Las Cañas RC, Del Sur Rugby vs. Atlético Chascomús, and Mercedes RC vs. GE Ituzaingó.

THIRD

Porteño vs. Varela Jr.

HOW DO THEY GET THERE: Great match between two of the candidates to fight for the only promotion. In Porteño he trained very hard to reach this present. Undoubtedly, it was one of the goals of the San Vicente team, which already has five wins in a row. They come from a clear victory in Beromama by 39 to 10. Varela, on the other hand, arrived with a very favorable record to the clash against Los Molinos, however he could not sustain the initial clean and jerk to leave his undefeated, by 29 to 23 in the fifth working day. Now, along with Los Pinos, he is one of Porteño’s bodyguards.

WHAT DO THEY SEEK: They were already cut between the four or five clubs with a chance of fighting for a place in the semifinals. The two teams stood out because they were solid in their defenses and won by a long margin. Porteño will seek to defend the undefeated and the top, Varela Jr instead recover from his first fall in the tournament.

BACKGROUND: It’s been 18 years since the last time that Porteño beat Varela, it was in 2003, 14-0. Since then, six games have been played and the green team won all of them. They have not played since 2013, where they thrashed 57-10 in Florencio Varela.

They complete: Beromama vs. City of Campana, Los Molinos vs. Banco Hipotecario, Federal Shot of Baradero vs. Los Pinos, San José vs. Vicente López and Arsenal Náutico de Zárate vs. Ezeiza.

DEVELOPING

Almafuerte vs. Glew Defenders

HOW DO THEY GET THERE: The Desarrollo tournament had a very good start, with several clubs involved in qualifying positions and only one undefeated, Atlético San Andrés. For Almafuerte and Defensores de Glew, the start yielded more than positive results. The Ciudad Evita team has already been released, won three games and lost undefeated on the fifth date at the expense of Floresta, by 41 to 16. Glew’s defenders is one of the three leaders, with four victories and thrashed in their last performance to Rivadavia de Lobos by 51 to 15.

WHAT DO THEY SEEK: With a lot of parity in the first half of the tournament, the area has already been divided into two parts, those that will fight for the qualifying places in the semifinals and the rest. Almafuerte and Glew dream of privileged places, so Saturday’s clash will be a good opportunity not to stray from their goal.

BACKGROUND: In 2019 they played in Development and in both matches Almafuerte thrashed, by 55 to 25 and 43 to 20. Glew defenders have not won as a visitor since 2014, when they won by 39 to 20.

They complete: Sanitary Works vs. Floresta RC, Rivadavia de Lobos vs. PAC Gral. Rodríguez, Municipality of Berazategui vs. Atlético San Andrés, and Berisso RC vs. Marcos Paz. Free: Hebraic Society.
