2021 has been a busy year for Mexican Montserrat Conejo Ruiz, who made her UFC debut in March and is already on her way to her third fight. Sources confirmed to ESPN Sports that the promotion has offered the fight at 115 pounds to both the native of León, Guanajuato, and the American Mallory Martin, for next December 4.
Conejo Ruiz is 10-2 and is coming off her first loss in the UFC, with a first-round knockout of Brazilian Amanda Lemos. Before that, she had defeated fellow debutant Cheyanne Buys by unanimous decision in her first match in the Octagon.
The Mexican currently resides in El Paso, Texas, where she trains with the Panamanian Joselyne Edwards under the training of coach Victor Dávila from Juarez.
Martin, who has just been beaten by Brazilian Polyana Viana by the arm bar, is 7-4 as a professional and would end a 10-month absence without a fight.
After sustaining a six-game winning streak in a row, he stands with one win and two losses in the UFC.
The promotion has yet to make the undercard venue official, but it is expected to take place at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, as has happened with most of the year’s UFC Fight Nights.
