Raducanu-Fernández will be the youngest final of the century

Since the beginning of the Open Era in 1968, there were 416 Grand Slam Finals (between women and men) and in only two teenagers faced each other as they will in the next few hours Leylah Fernández, 19, and Emma Raducanu, 18.

The title will be played this Saturday the Canadian against the British with a sum between the two that does not reach 40 years. That is to say, less than those who have some other tennis player in activity like Venus or Serena Williams.

It is the youngest final at Flushing Meadows since 1999, when on that occasion Serena Williams, 17 and Martina Hingis, 18, played the last game. And there they go …

The female finals among teenagers:

-1997 Roland Garros: Iva Majoli (19) vs Martina Hingis (17)
-1999 US Open: Serena Williams (17) vs Martina Hingis (18)
-2021 US Open: Leylah Fernandez (19) vs Emma Raducanu (18)
