Dominic Thiem gave a few words to the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung where he analyzed his goals in sport that have him tied to the evolution of that “damn doll”.
The 2020 US Open winner acknowledged that he has in mind to return at the next Australian Open, but still cannot guarantee his presence: “I cannot set a clear objective yet. I want to play in Australia, but everything will depend on the next appointment with the doctors and how the wrist is evolving. We cannot rule out anything yet.”
For the moment he thinks about recovery but the ghosts of a possible end appeared and there he did not hide the title he wanted to win: “Roland Garros is a very special tournament for me. I have already played three finals there, one in Junior mode and two as a professional. Although I always stayed at the gates, I usually played at a high level there. It would hurt to retire from tennis without having never won there before. It’s certainly one of my big short-term goals. “
