Andy Murray had an auspicious debut at the Challenger of Rennes, France. The Scotsman was undone, in little more than an hour, of Yannick Maden (240 °) by 6-3 and 6-1.
For the Scotsman, this was his second Challenger contested in the year. In February he played in Biella, a tournament in which he reached the final and lost against Ilia Marchenko.
In the next instance, the Glasgow born will play against the winner of the duel between Manuel Guinard (160 °) or Roman Safiullin (158 °). It should also be noted that in This contest is being disputed by two former Top 10, plus Murray. They are: Richard Gasquet (85 °) and Gilles Simon (100 °).
In his Challenger Tour record, Andy Murray lifted two trophies: Aptos and Binghamton, both in 2005. In the latter he beat Colombian Alejandro Falla in the final.
