Humphrey was able to take the ball, but missed the interception for celebrating the defended pass
The cornerback of the Baltimore Ravens, Marlon Humphrey starred in a curious play in which the interception would have been lost, due to a premature celebration. All this as part of the closing of Week 1 of the NFL against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Humphrey defended the pass to tight end Darren Waller, successfully. When both players fall, apparently the ball does not go down, as it stays between the players’ legs, even the defender gets up with the ball between them and then falls. Could he have taken it and had it counted as an interception?
Marlon Humphrey has eight interceptions in the NFL. Last year he barely managed one and his best harvest was in 2019, when he intercepted three times. Raiders, in 2020, did not stand out in the section, as they barely accumulated 10 interceptions, far from the 18 of the Dolphins, Patriots, Saints and Steelers.
Last season, Derk Carr had nine interceptions, the same as his opponent, Lamar Jackson, but fewer than veteran and Super Bowl champion Tom Brady (12).
