(EFE) – Bayern beat Bochum 7-0 at home this Saturday and Robert Lewandowski achieved a new record by becoming the first player to score in 19 consecutive games in the Bundesliga.
The victory allows Bayern to provisionally ascend to first place, although tomorrow they could be displaced again by Wolfsburg if they prevail against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Coach Julian Nagelsmann made three changes from last Tuesday’s starting lineup against Barcelona. Instead of Dayot Upamecano, Niklas Süle’s starting partner in the central team was Lucas Hernández. Stasinic started as a right back in place of Benjamin Pavard and Serge Gnabry was in the place of Jamal Musiala.
Bochum started with a brave approach, trying to close the exit to Bayern and looking to reach the goal of Manuel Neuer, who was even forced to deflect a shot from Holtmann in the 12th minute.
Bochum’s resistance lasted until the 17th minute when Leroy Sané opened the scoring by launching a free kick from about 25 meters. The foul had been against Gnabry and the Bochum wall lost order and concentration, distracted by a shift from Leon Goretzka to the right wing.
Sané shot slightly over the wall and the ball went to the back of the net. Then the catastrophe for the Bochum ran its course. Joshuma Kimmich scored the second on 27, to center Sané from the left, Serge Gnabry made the third on a counterattack at 32 and Lampropoulos scored an own goal on 43 when he tried to return the ball to goalkeeper Manuel Riemann, harassed by Lewandowski.
Only Lewandowski’s goal was missing from Bayern’s regular program and this came in the 61st minute after a spill from Sané on the right. The center reached Gnabry who barely put his foot in so that Lewandowski, less than a meter away, defined the empty door.
Four minutes later Kimmich scored the sixth, defining from close range over the goalkeeper. Choupo Moting made the seventh, in 79.
In the other first shift games in the afternoon, Augsburg defeated Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-0 while Mainz and Freiburg and Arminia Bielefeld and Hoffenheim drew goalless.
