Netherlands gave a coup of authority in his visit to Uruguay by obtaining a full of two victories this Saturday in the first day of the Davis Cup World Zone Group I.
The first match at the Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club, in Montevideo, left Francisco Llanes without margin or arguments to resist Botic Van De Zandshulp, who won 0-6 and 3-6.
The second match was the most attractive and exciting, but Martín Cuevas succumbed to Tallon Griekspoor,
The first set ended 4-6 while the second ended 6-7 after a tie break in which the screams, the anger of the public and the encouragement towards his compatriot were immediate. In fact, at the end of the second game there was a clash between Cuevas and Griekspoor that was quickly separated.
Despite the fact that ‘Bebu’ Cuevas tried to surprise and even came close to doing so at times, Griekspoor’s efficiency in his powerful shots and the calm when playing allowed him to stay with a long-suffering victory.
Now, Uruguay has a very uphill game on Sunday in which it needs three victories to win the series. Likewise, its main star, Pablo Cuevas, arrives between cotton wool to play and will only do so in the doubles key.
Pablo Cuevas will play alongside Ariel Behar against Matwé Middelkoop and Wesley Koolhof in the game that will open the day on Sunday while then Martín Cuevas will face Botic Van De Zandshulp and Francisco Llanes will face Tallon Griekspoor.
