Davis Cup: Uruguay lost the series and Brazil advanced

In local condition, in the Carrasco Lawn Tennis, Uruguay without Pablo Cuevas for physical discomfort, lost the doubles point and was eliminated from World Group I at the hands of the Netherlands, who later sentenced the series 4-0. On the other hand, Brazil did not suffer drawbacks before Lebanon, surpassed it with a 4-0 aggregate and guaranteed a place in the Davis Cup qualifier, to be played in 2022.

On the first day, Francisco Llanes and Martín Cuevas lost with Botic Van Zandschulp and Tallon griekspoor, respectively, and the doubles modality, gave the final triumph to the European team. Wesley Koolhof along with Matwe Middelkoop categorically defeated the pair made up of Martín Cuevas and Ignacio Carou with partial 6-2 and 6-1.

No longer able to turn history around, Carou (549th) jumped onto the track again in order to discount the scoreboard but was defeated by Robin Haase (224th) 6-3 and 6-2 in one hour of play.

In the city of Jounieh, in the meantime, Brazil was the favorite and settled the series against Lebanon. The Matos and Demoliner couple beat Habib and Hassan 6-2, 3-6 and 7-6, while Matheus Pucinelli de Almeida (318th) did the same against Roey Tabet, who they crushed 6-0 and 6-1.

On the previous day, Orlando Luz and Felipe Meligeni Rodrigues Alves had given their country the first two points of the key.
