South Africa won the Vancouver Sevens after beating Kenya in the final 38-5. The Blitz Boks finished undefeated in a contest that marked the start of a new season on the World Tour.
On the way to the decisive match, those led by Neil Powell had dmissed Great Britain in semi-finals, 26-12, while in the quarterfinals, the Africans comfortably beat Spain, by 54 to 5.
For his part, the Kenyan national team surprised Ireland in the semifinals with a resounding 38 to 5, whereas previously, he struck by leaving out United States, in the quarterfinals, beating it 19 to 14.
The Vancouver contest had as only South American team to the selected Chile. The Condors finished eleventh after beating Mexico 34-0. Previously, in the game for ninth place, the trans-Andean players fell to Jamaica, by a meager 10 to 5.
The World Sevens Tour will continue its activity next week, again in Canada, but this time in the city of Edmonton, on the 25th and 26th.
