(EFE) – With goals from Kerolin, Debinha, the debutant Yasmin and the six times best in the world Marta, the Brazilian women’s soccer team beat Argentina 4-1 on Monday in the second of two friendlies played by the rivals in the last four days, after having won 3-1 the first.
La Canarinha, who in the game on Monday at the Almeidao stadium in the Brazilian city of Joao Pessoa, was much better than in the first exhibition, made clear from the first minutes their great advantage over Argentina and dominated the entire match.
In the first friendly between the traditional rivals of the two scheduled on the September FIFA date for women’s teams, played last Friday at the Amigao stadium in Campina Grande, Brazil had won 3-1 with goals from Debinha, Nycole and Angelina .
They were the first two matches for the team led by Swedish coach Pia Sundhage since Brazil was eliminated by Canada in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
With the new victory, the Brazilian women’s team expands its hegemony over Argentina’s, which it has beaten in 16 of 19 classics played. The Argentines achieved only one draw and two victories in matches with the Brazilians.
Those led by Marta have already added 64 goals scored in matches with Argentina and only 13 received.
The victory also further enlarges Sundhage’s numbers as Brazil’s coach. The Swedish coach, who won two Olympic gold medals as coach of the United States, has collected 14 victories and 7 draws in 23 games as Brazil’s coach.
Brazil has only suffered two defeats under the command of the Swede. The first eliminated Brazil in the Women’s World Cup and the second left Canarinha without an Olympic medal in Tokyo.
So far this year, Brazil has 7 wins, 3 draws and one loss in 11 games, while Argentina, under the command of coach Germán Portanova, has only one win, one draw and 6 losses in eight games.
In this Monday’s friendly, Brazil opened the scoring in the 19th minute after Kerolin, after an assist from Nycole that goalkeeper Laurina Oliveros failed to deflect, only had to lightly touch the ball to score.
Twenty minutes later the veteran Marta, six times voted the best soccer player in the world and the greatest scorer in the history of the World Cups, scored hers in the perfect collection of a free kick that slipped through the angle of Oliveros after touching the crossbar.
With barely two minutes into the second half, Debinha extended the lead by heading an assist from Yasmin in great style from the left.
Three minutes later, Mariana Valeria Larroquette took advantage of a failure by Lauren to invade the Brazilian area, misplacing Leticia and scoring Argentina’s goal of honor.
But in the 6th minute of the second half, Yasmin, one of the best on the field in her debut with Canarinha, put definitive figures on the game after receiving a pass from the “queen” Marta.
Argentina narrowly secured their second in the 24th minute of the second half after Florencia Bonsegundo edged several Brazilian rivals and invaded the area before Lauren stopped her from finishing the play.
