Aremi Fuentes, bronze medalist in Tokyo 2020, denounced that the governor of Baja California, Jaime Bonilla, gave him a check, as a supposed reward for their performance in the Olympic Games, with a value of 50 thousand pesos, but this has no fund and the bank declared it non-existent.
“We were given a stimulus of 50 thousand pesos, as a recognition that we did at the Olympic Games. The official photo is taken and everything ”, he commented Aremi Fuentes, at a press conference.
“As of the date of delivery of the check, I have not seen the deposit reflected, the check does not exist, I am unapologetically grateful for using the image of an Olympic medalist. It is not that the check has no funds, it is that they tell me it does not exist ”, added the Olympic athlete.
The athlete specialized in weightlifting explained that the government gave her another 24 thousand pesos, but that corresponds to the amount of backward scholarships, so now she cannot collect the alleged prize that the government of the state of Baja California.
