Los Teros will seek to get their place in the Rugby World Cup 2023 when they face the United States next October 2 and 9. The winner of this series will play in group A, along with New Zealand, France and the 2022 Rugby Africa Cup champion.
For the crosses against Las Águilas, Uruguay will have the return to Santiago Arata’s team, current Castres man, who decided not to participate in the international window in July despite World Rugby Rule 9, which obliges clubs to cede players to national teams for international windows.
For his part, the River Plate coach Esteban Meneses will have at his disposal six other players who play in European rugby: German kessler (Provence – PRO D2), Felipe Berchesi (Union Sportive Dacquoise – Federale 1), Manuel Leindekar (Oyonnax – PRO D2), Mateo Sanguinetti (RC Massy – Nationale), Agustin Ormaechea (Stade Montois – PRO D2) and Franco Lamanna (Mogliano – Top 12).
It should be noted that both Ormaechea and Lamanna are recovering from injuries, bone and muscle respectively, and their full recovery is expected within a week.
