For the fifth date of the Rugby Championship, The Pumas will play the Wallabies, who comes on a streak after two wins in a row against South Africa, in the small town of Townsville, which has approximately 200,000 residents.
A whole revolution for a city where the Argentine national team left a fond memory. The cover of the newspapers reflected the visit of the Argentine team: in 1983, the Albiceleste team carried out a tour of the oceanic country, in which he beat an Australian national team for the first time – he won 18-3-, and played a game in Townsville, where they claimed a 22-12 win over Queensland Country.
In that trip of Los Pumas, old glories of the selected one stood out as Serafín Dengra, Eliseo Branca, Hugo Porta, Marcelo Loffreda, and Patricio Noriega among others. One of the fans who was in that game still has Noriega’s shirt (photo) as a souvenir of a unique visit. The confrontation next Saturday, September 25, will be the first in the history of the Wallabies in the aforementioned town.
