Everything you have to know in the previous to the 8th date of all the superior categories of the URBA

In tournaments that so far are extremely even, First A, B, C, Second, Third and Development will play their respective eighth dates next Saturday.

Champagnat vs. The Matreros (Saturday at 16.05 live on Star + and ESPN Extra)

HOW DO THEY GET THERE: One of the most important clashes of the date will be in First A, between two clubs that arrive as animators of the tournament. Champagnat is undefeated, with six wins and only one draw. He comes from winning after a lot of effort and a great comeback as a visitor to San Albano, in a very even development. Los Matreros, after a spectacular start, left undefeated on their court when they received Atlético del Rosario, the following week they tied at Curupaytí and last Saturday they returned to victory at La Base, against Lomas by 38 to 23.

WHAT DO THEY SEEK: After times of change and doubts generated by the alternation in the different categories, the current events of Champagnat and Los Matreros invites them to dream. They live a different stage, established in their new venues – Estancias del Pilar and La Base – and with styles of games that take risks and broader structures than in previous years. They play one of the most attractive matches of the weekend.

BACKGROUND: Champagnat has won six consecutive victories over Los Matreros, the last one by 16 to 7 on the seventh round of Primera B, in 2018. Los Matreros won for the last time in 2007, by 29 to 12, as a visitor.

They complete: Mariano Moreno vs. Pueyrredón, Banco Nación vs. La Plata, Olivos vs. Deportiva Francesa, San Carlos vs. San Albano, Lomas Athletic vs. San Patricio, and Curupaytí vs. Atlético del Rosario.

San Martín vs. Manuel Belgrano

HOW DO THEY GET THERE: Interesting clash in Sáez Peña, where two of the four best teams in the category will meet. San Martín already got into the playoff zone after beating Daom, 39-15, last Saturday. The tricolor, in this way, recovered from the fall to SITAS on the sixth date. For Manuel Belgrano, the year continues to be very productive, as they beat Ciudad de Bs. As. 48-0 and are only four points behind the only leader, San Cirano. The “Pato” Albacete team is one of the candidates for promotion and has been doing things very well in the tournament.

WHAT DO THEY SEEK: For San Martín, the start of the season was not the best. Little by little they adjusted certain aspects of the game, such as discipline and defense, then the results began to show. For the azulgrana the main objective will be to return to a higher division. They come with four wins in a row, the ingoal in zero against Ciudad and a lot of forcefulness on the offensive face.

BACKGROUND: They have not shared the same category since 2016, when they were last measured. There the tricolor prevailed in Sáenz Peña, by 43 to 19. The last triumph of Manuel Belgrano was in 2008, when he won at home by 14 to 10 over Pacific.

They complete: Gymnastics and Fencing vs. San Fernando, San Andrés vs. University of La Plata, Hurling vs. Don Bosco, Delta RC vs. SITAS, San Cirano vs. Daom, and City of Bs.As. vs. Naval Lyceum.

Italian Club vs. CU of Quilmes

HOW DO THEY GET THERE: He left the unbeaten Italian Club last Saturday in his visit to Vicentinos, one of the leaders with CUQ. Precisely, Pilar’s team won by 28 to 23 and put the table of the First C red hot, which has two leaders and three teams that broke away from the rest. Círculo Universitario de Quilmes is the other leader, with seven consecutive victories in a devastating start. The celestial also had a risky visit, since he received the Military School, which he beat by 19 to 12 in a match that defined him in the final minutes.

WHAT DO THEY SEEK: For both Club Italiano and CUQ, fighting for the only promotion is one of the objectives set for this season. The two started with very good results and dominating the division along with the revelation, Vicentinos. They face two clubs with very similar numbers and that stand out for how well they defend.

BACKGROUND: They have played only seven times in the last 20 years, where no wins have ever been recorded for the Italian Club. All matches were won by CUQ. They have not played since 2014, when the celestial won the two times, by 23 to 20 and 23 to 3, both games played at the Bajo Flores property.

They complete: Vicentinos vs. El Retiro, Military School vs. Atlético y Progreso de Brandsen, Naval Center vs. Old Georgian, Viceroys vs. Areco RC., CASA de Padua vs. Luján RC, and Lanús RC vs. great mountain

Mercedes RC vs. Albatross

HOW DO THEY GET THERE: Due to the parity shown by the teams that march at the top of the table in this tournament, almost every weekend there are interesting clashes in the division. Mercedes arrived with her best energy to visit Los Cedros, however she could not extend her series without defeats, she lost to the tricolor, by 13 to 8 where the Sarquis brothers were figures in the winner. For his part, Albatros visited San Miguel and obtained his seventh victory in a row: he won by 20 to 5 with a great performance. The Barrio Hernández team remains undefeated, but four points behind the leader, CAR.

WHAT DO THEY SEEK: The URBA Second Division is very even, with four teams separated by only three points. Del Sur and Los Cedros are also close and waiting, as happened on the weekend when the San Miguel club took away the undefeated Mercedes. It will be a game with an open forecast and a result that can go to either of the two clubs.

BACKGROUND: It is a game without antecedents, since the two clubs integrated different categories in the last 20 years.

They complete: Federal Shot of San Pedro vs. San Miguel RHC, San Marcos vs. La Salle, Tigre RC vs. Las Cañas RC, Argentino de Rugby vs. Atlético Chascomús, St. Brendan’s vs. GE Ituzaingó, and Del Sur Rugby vs. Los Cedros.

Porteño vs. The pines

HOW DO THEY GET THERE: With the triumph of Los Molinos over Los Pinos they are no longer undefeated in the Third Division. Green, in a very even game, lost for the first time to Pilar’s team, by 15 to 11. For Porteño there was revenge and that success returned their joy, in addition to the shared point of the tournament with Varela Jr. Los de San Vicente beat Banco Hipotecario with authority, by 32 to 11, and reached the club in the southern zone. Both add 30 points and took a difference of three units to Los Pinos.

WHAT DO THEY SEEK: It has been a long time since there has been a tournament as competitive and even as this season in the Third Division. There are several applicants for a single promotion, Porteño and Los Pinos are two of them and they face this weekend to try to separate themselves from the rest.

BACKGROUND: In 2019 they were the last two times that they saw each other and a success was distributed for each club. The results mark a 31 to 6 for Porteño and a very close 46 to 43 for Los Pinos. In San Vicente the green team has won two consecutive wins.

They complete: Varela Jr. vs. City of Campana, Beromama vs. Banco Hipotecario, Los Molinos vs. Vicente López, Federal Shot of Baradero vs. Ezeiza, and San José vs. Zárate Nautical Arsenal.

Almafuerte vs. Athletic San Andrés

HOW DO THEY GET THERE: Weekend of goals were lived in Almafuerte and Atlético San Andrés. Those from Ciudad Evita visited General Rodríguez’s PAC and were forceful, with a score that exempts further comments, by 78 to 21. Atlético San Andrés received Rivadavia de Lobos in Pilar and did not leave any doubt either. Brown’s win went from 76 to 14 and marked the team’s recovery, after the surprise fall in Berazategui, the day they lost undefeated.

WHAT DO THEY SEEK: Last Saturday Floresta was the only Development leader, but on this day he will be free after reaping six wins and a single loss. So this weekend there may be a new leader who will come out of this match, unless there is a tie between Almafuerte and Atlético San Andrés.

BACKGROUND: They know each other very well since they shared almost all the last seasons of Buenos Aires rugby. In 2019 they took one victory per side: Atlético won Ciudad Evita (by the minimum 32-31) and Almafuerte did it as a visitor by 38 to 19.

They complete: Hebrew Society vs. Glew Defenders, Sanitary Works v. PAC Gral. Rodríguez, Rivadavia de Lobos vs. Marcos Paz, and Municipality of Berazategui vs. Berisso RC Free: Floresta RC.
