Hubert Hurkacz was the insurmountable barrier that Andy Murray encountered at the ATP 250 in Metz. The Scotsman ran into the Pole again by 7-6 (4) and 6-3 in one hour and 49 minutes.
It is curious that the result is exactly the same (including the tiebreak) to the victory of the Pole over Murray in the Masters 1000 Cincinnati just weeks ago.
Hurkacz’s 13 aces and Murray’s inability to break him were the keys of a duel with passages of good tennis that classified the Pole to the semifinals of the tournament.
In this instance the German will be measured Peter Gojowczyk, champion of the tournament in 2017, who in the first turn gave an account of Marcos Giron with partials of 3-6, 6-1 and 6-3.
