BARCELONA – Ansu Fati returns to the stage with Barcelona. About eleven months after he was injured in a match against Real Betis at the Camp Nou and after a long and worrying recovery that included up to four interventions, the forward will again be seen on the pitch, although he has already warned this Saturday Ronald Koeman that his presence will be limited “to fifteen minutes maximum.”
“We are not going to run with him loading him with games and minutes. We have to follow a plan to fully recover him because that is the most important thing,” warned the Barcelona coach, considering that his return is probably the best news of the last times around the Camp Nou. “His return is very important because he is going to give us a lot of quality … But little by little,” he resolved, warning that at the moment he cannot, and should not, hold Ansu responsible.
“There is a long way to go before he is as he was. He cannot recover in two games or two weeks, we have to be attentive and help him because that is the most important thing. It depends on his condition and with the medical staff we have to be together in this direction” Koeman sentenced, probably slowing down his own impetus and satisfaction that he must feel to recover a footballer who last season, until the moment of his injury in November, was the best companion of the then Barça leader Lionel Messi.
ON THE RAMP
Ansu Fati is the one who by the desire of the club, and after having agreed with the captains of the squad, will wear the 10 that for the last thirteen years was owned by Messi. Called to become Barça’s benchmark footballer in the near future, his agent Jorge Mendes already had first contacts with the Barça executives to begin to put in order the new contract to replace the current one that ends at the end of this season, for more than that there is a two-year renewal clause in the hands of the entity that is not being taken into account.
Slowly but surely, Barça trusts that its new star will recover the sensations to be able to lead a team that needs quality up front, his self-confidence, scoring nose (when he was injured in November 2020 he was the second top scorer of the team with six goals in twelve games) and significance on the pitch.
Ansu will play, if Koeman’s advance is fulfilled, fifteen minutes against Levante this Sunday and he will have minutes again, it will be seen how many, the following Wednesday in Lisbon against Benfica before visiting Atlético de Madrid in the last game before of the national team break and in which it is expected that at least half a part of the team will be able to remain on the field of play.
The plan is clear. It only remains to see the response of a player in whom the club, the coach, the fans and his own teammates have placed all the hopes to recover optimism.
