Australia beat Los Pumas 27-8 in Townsville by the 5th date of the Rugby Championship. The Wallabies added their third win in a row and based the victory in the first half where they took advantage of the Argentine weaknesses. The Pumas, who failed to win in the tournament, had their best moment at the start of the second half, but a yellow to Marcos Kremer allowed the locals to dominate the actions again and round off the favorable result.
The beginning of Los Pumas it was auspicious because a summation of errors allowed the locals to get up on the scoreboard. Emiliano Boffelli marked a feasible shipment to the sticks, the inconsistency in handling and Australia did not miss the opportunity: Samu Kerevi broke the line and Reece Hodge finished the play on the ingoal.
The irregularity in the fixed formations (3 lines lost) and Australia did not forgive either. Line stolen, advantage and Quade Cooper rubbed the lamp to take advantage of it with a rake within 22 meters than in the next phase Samu Kerevi (a nightmare at that point) transformed it in try stuck to the ax.
The Pumas sharpened their aim with Emiliano Boffelli who hit a penalty to the sticksHowever, the big problem was every time those led by Mario Ledesma had possession: no ideas appeared to approach, at least, the rival’s 22 meters. With these advantages Australia he wasted a couple of chances and went to rest 17-3 up on a Quade Cooper penalty.
At add-on Los Pumas they needed to get back into the game and they came out determined to achieve the goal. To the 2 ‘they managed to impose conditions and from a line at 5 meters and the subsequent maul, Julian Montoya arrived at try. The good moment of Los Pumas continued, they began to become strong in contact, they gained prominence and led Australia to defend themselves in their field. The poor aim of Boffelli (1/4) prevented the Argentines from being closer in the result and Marcos Kremer was added a yellow for a trip, which allowed Australia to come out of lethargy.
The local renewed the media couple with Tate McDermott and James O’Connor to give more freshness to the attack and the results were not long in coming. With 15 game phases cornered Los Pumas against the ingoal and insisting so much Andrew Kelleway scored the try to dissuade Argentine hopes to be able to reverse the score. The game was lost on the night of Townsville with the Wallabies embraced to victory, the one that is elusive to Los Pumas and that although they have flashes, they need to hold it for longer to be able to reverse this adverse streak.
