INGLEWOOD (AP) – Matthew Stafford threw for 343 yards and four touchdowns to outshine Tom Brady in the win for Los Angeles Rams this Sunday from 34-24 on Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The loss ended the Los Angeles’ 10-game regular season and playoff winning streak. Buccaneers dating back to last season.
Stafford missed five of his first six pass attempts before tuning up for the Rams (3-0) to score in their next six offensive series. He threw his best pass of the game early in the third period, when he hit an unmarked DeSean Jackson for a 75-yard touchdown and with what The Angels extended his lead to 21-7.
Jackson overtook the cornerback of Tampa bay, Carlton David III, on the play, caught the pass at the 30-yard line from the Buccaneers and zigzagged his way the last 10 yards into the tunnel, where he was greeted by the head coach of the Rams, Sean McVay.
It was Jackson’s ninth touchdown of at least 75 yards, tying Hall of Famer Lance Alworth for the most in NFL history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
Stafford, who completed 27 of 38 passes, has three touchdown passes of at least 56 yards this season.
Brady, who completed 41 of 55 passes for 432 yards and two touchdowns (one on pass and one on the ground), joins Drew Brees as the only quarterback in history to throw for more than 80,000 yards.
