Chargers vs. Chiefs - Game Report - September 26, 2021

KANSAS CITY – KANSAS CITY (AP) – The Chargers had just provoked the Chiefs’ fourth ball exchange Sunday and Los Angeles coach Brandon Staley had to make a crucial decision on the fourth down and less than a minute per play in a game that was tied.
Send his kicker to attempt a 48-yard field goal, even though Tristan Vizcaino had already missed an extra point, or gamble with his offense led by Justin Herbert.
“We wanted to put the ball in the hands of Justin. We wanted him to be the one to decide the game ”.
It turned out to be a good idea.
Herbert threw a pass that resulted in pass interference against Chiefs defender DeAndre Baker and the first chance. He then found Mike Williams on back-to-back plays, including a touchdown with 32 seconds left that gave Los Angeles a 30-24 victory over the five-time defending AFC West champions.
Herbert finished with 281 passing yards with four TDs without an interception, beating Patrick Mahomes, two young quarterbacks, in the duel and in a clash between two teams that will fight for the divisional championship.
It was the third victory for the Chargers (2-1) in four trips to Kansas City, which leaves two-time AFC champions Chiefs (1-2) in the basement of their division.
