Declaration of Olympia
For his part, Olimpia Sports Club published a press release on their social networks informing the team’s position after the disqualification from Concacaf.
“The incidents that took place in our club’s dressing room after the September 21 game against Inter Moengo Tapoe in Suriname were undoubtedly a mistake. The Board of Directors will take disciplinary measures within our institution, since the consequences of these errors have caused our beloved club enormous damage to the image of a team that has always carried the name of Honduran football high.”.
It was also reported that the money received by the members of the Olimpia Club from Ronnie Brunswijk will be donated during the week to the Honduran Foundation for Children with Cancer.
With the sanction of both teams by Concacaf, the winner of the series between the Liga Deportiva Alajuelense and Deportivo Guastatoya, would be the beneficiary since they would not have a confrontation in the Quarterfinals and would be installed in the Semifinals.
