Pedro Troglio makes his position in Olympia available after Concacaf scandal

The Argentine coach broke the silence and spoke on his Twitter account after what happened with Olimpia in the Concacaf League

HONDURAS – The teams of Olimpia and Inter Moengo Tapoe were officially disqualified from the 2021 Concacaf League, the regional body reported through a press release after the events recorded in the first leg of the Round of 16 where the vice president of Suriname and owner of the team, Ronnie Brunswijk, distributed money in the dressing room to the players of the Honduran club.

Hours after the official statement was made by Concacaf, the Argentine coach Pedro Troglio de Olimpia broke the silence and spoke through his Twitter account with a message indicating that he makes his position available to the club after the scandal that occurred.

We are honestly hurt by what happened. This situation not generated by us got the better of us. As the head of the delegation, I make the decision they wish to make available to the club. We have lived beautiful years not to continue being friends. Stamina Olympia”Wrote Pedro Troglio.

The 54-year-old Argentine coach arrived in Olimpia in 2019 and has won three titles with the Honduran team: Apertura 2019 Tournament, Apertura 2020 and recently the Clausura 2021.

Declaration of Olympia

For his part, Olimpia Sports Club published a press release on their social networks informing the team’s position after the disqualification from Concacaf.

“The incidents that took place in our club’s dressing room after the September 21 game against Inter Moengo Tapoe in Suriname were undoubtedly a mistake. The Board of Directors will take disciplinary measures within our institution, since the consequences of these errors have caused our beloved club enormous damage to the image of a team that has always carried the name of Honduran football high.”.

It was also reported that the money received by the members of the Olimpia Club from Ronnie Brunswijk will be donated during the week to the Honduran Foundation for Children with Cancer.

With the sanction of both teams by Concacaf, the winner of the series between the Liga Deportiva Alajuelense and Deportivo Guastatoya, would be the beneficiary since they would not have a confrontation in the Quarterfinals and would be installed in the Semifinals.
