Just a few days ago, Nick Kyrgios (96th) confirmed from Boston, in the Laver Cup, that he would not compete anymore for the remainder of 2021. Today, on his social networks, he announced that hopes to return for the Australian Open in 2022.
“For the past few months I have not been near 100% health. I have been dealing with tendinopathy of the left kneecap and continuing to play without treating it completely can lead to more pain and more setbacks.” stated the Australian.
Then he continued: “I chose to fly back to Australia to reassess and am planning to have a PRP (platelet rich plasma therapy) treatment to sit down and rehab my knee. I am disappointed that it prevented me from playing my best tennis and hopefully all good. I’ll be 100% back for the Australian Open. “
Kyrgios, during 2021, only played seven tournaments and one exhibition (Laver Cup). His record was 7-8 and his best results came at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. In both he reached the third round.
