After receiving an invite at ATP 250 in San Diego, Andy Murray beat Denis Kudla at the premiere and, as he is used to, he runs into a higher level opponent immediately. This is the case of Casper Ruud, currently number 10 in the world.
Murray is improving his form. He came to San Diego after reaching the quarterfinals at Metz last week, his best finish in seven tournaments since his return to the court in June.
The round of 16 will be Murray’s first meeting with Ruud, who lifted the Cup in clay tournaments in Geneva, Bastad, Gstaad and Kitzbuhel this year.
It will be the first match between the two and, on a special date, the action will be seen live on Star +.
