This weekend comes the moment that Argentine soccer fans have been waiting for: the public returns to the stadiums. The Government confirmed that the capacity will be 50 percent with the local public in the matches of the League Tournament.
Health Minister Carla Vizzotti gave a press conference at Casa Rosada together with the Chief of Staff (Juan Manzur) and the Ministers of Security (Aníbal Fernández) and of Tourism and Sports (Matías Lammens). In addition to confirming the number of viewers that will be allowed, he announced that it will be mandatory for those over 18 to have at least one dose of “any vaccine” against COVID-19.
Manzur clarified that it will not be possible to ensure a larger presence of the public in the stadiums for the moment. “Some wanted the capacity to be higher but it doesn’t give us more. The pandemic is not over. We must continue to insist on compliance with the protocols“.
The crossing between Aldosivi and Unión de Santa Fe will be the first meeting to be held with the local public after the interruption that took place since the beginning of the health emergency. And the most outstanding match will take place this Sunday when River and Boca meet to play the Superclásico at the Monumental.
