The albiceleste beat his compatriot Juan Manuel Cerúndolo (103 °) 3-6, 6-3, 2-0 and the Buenos Aires retired after 2 hours of play. In the next instance Ugo Carabelli will play against Gerald Melzer (664 °) who beat him 6-2, 3-0 and retired Spanish Eduard Esteve Lobato.
On the other side of the picture, Nicolás Kicker (286 °) could not beat Bolivian Hugo Dellien (140 °) that he won by 7-5 and 6-2 and Renzo Olivo (203 °) also could not against Johan Nikles (380 °) who triumphed 6-3 and 6-1.
