Rivera, a cancer survivor, maintains his good health
With a video on social networks and a donation to the cause for the fight against cancer, Washington Football Team celebrated the negative biopsy for coach Ron Rivera.
A year ago Rivera was discharged from cancer treatment and on Tuesday, according to one of his daughters, the result of the first negative annual biopsy was given for Rivera, 59 years old.
“On Tuesday my father had his first biopsy and it was confirmed that he is cancer free,” his daughter commented on social networks when answering the organization’s video.
“Besides our family and the medical team, this team were the only ones who really saw my father during his treatments. This surprise means a lot to my father and I have been crying since it happened, ”he continued.
For his part, Washington shared a video to celebrate the good health of his head coach, which surprised him. In it we can see and hear players talking about Rivera and his example. In addition, the franchise made a donation to support treatment and research expenses.
It’s Ron Rivera’s second season as Washington’s head coach. Last year he left a 7-9 record that, however, was enough to play the playoffs – although they only participated in the first round.
His best season leading a team was built in 2015 when he led the Carolina Panthers to a 15-1 mark. The NFC championship and the loss in the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos.
We are all still #RiveraStrong
