Thomas Lavanini, which was in the Rugby Championship with The Pumas on Australia arrived at Auvergne to join the staff of Clermont in the face of what is coming in the Top 14 from France. The second row is looking forward to adding minutes to his new club, in which he has not made his debut yet.
“It was important that I introduce myself to my new teammates, the staff and the club environment. I was happy to meet them all and discover the culture that surrounds this club,” said Lavanini after being asked about his new experience.
In addition, the second row of Los Pumas told the talk about Clermont that he had with the Head Coach of the selected team, Mario Ledesma, former player of the yellow club. “Mario told me that everything is ready for me to enjoy in Clermont as was his case during the seasons he spent in Auvergne. He told me how professional the club is. It really makes you want to wear this shirt.
What memories do you have of the Top 14 that you will find after a season in Racing?
I remember a very tough competition. All the games were demanding, physical and very committed. I think it is even more physical than the English championship which has more free dates. In the French championship, there are probably more contacts, more scrums than in any other championship. It is a very difficult competition, but for a player it is very interesting to play.
What do you think you can contribute to the team?
I want to contribute my energy, give everything I can on the field every day, in every training session. I will do my best to help the team as soon as I get the chance.
Are you ready to play with Clermont?
Yes. I just played a tough Rugby Championship but I feel good. I arrived yesterday, the jet lag is still a bit present but I am in good shape, I am happy to train with my teammates and I can’t wait to play in Clermont.
