The Santiago Challenger will have a 100% South American final: Sebastián Báez (140th) and Juan Pablo Varillas (127th) They persisted, they were the best in the tournament and the definition of a new title will be played.

The Argentine comes from beating local Nicolás Jarry in the semifinal (217 °) in straight sets 6-4 and 6-4, in almost an hour and a half of play. The efficiency at the time of capitalizing the break points was decisive to be able to advance to a new final.

For its part, the Peruvian racket beat Francisco Cerúndolo (110º), who was favorite for the title, by 6-3, 6-7 (8) and 6-3 in what was a hard-fought victory for more than two and a half hours.

In this way, there is already an interesting final in Santiago. Báez maintains a great season, in which he has obtained degrees in this category in different parts of the world (Concepción, Santiago and Zagreb), while Varillas was champion in the Challenger of Biella (Italy).

With each other, they have never officially played, but they have done so at the Challenger level or in an ATP tournament qualifier. The record is led by the Argentine 3-1.

This year, Báez already beat him in the semifinal in Santiago (the previous edition) and in the final in Zagreb. In 2019, he had already beaten him in Montevideo. On the other hand, the Peruvian only beat him once and it was in qualifying in Hamburg.
