The Argentine comes from beating local Nicolás Jarry in the semifinal (217 °) in straight sets 6-4 and 6-4, in almost an hour and a half of play. The efficiency at the time of capitalizing the break points was decisive to be able to advance to a new final.
For its part, the Peruvian racket beat Francisco Cerúndolo (110º), who was favorite for the title, by 6-3, 6-7 (8) and 6-3 in what was a hard-fought victory for more than two and a half hours.
In this way, there is already an interesting final in Santiago. Báez maintains a great season, in which he has obtained degrees in this category in different parts of the world (Concepción, Santiago and Zagreb), while Varillas was champion in the Challenger of Biella (Italy).
