Venados tips Roberto Osuna first setback with Charros in Mexican Pacific League

JALISCO, Mexico – David Olmedo-Barrera responded with an RBI double in the top of the ninth inning off star Roberto Osuna and broke a tie to give the Mazatlán Venados a tight 4-3 win over the Charros de Jalisco in the Mexican Pacific League.

Carlos Muñoz hit a two-touchdown homer and Leo Germán went 3-2 with one RBI and one scored to complement the winners’ offense.

The victory went to Roberto Espinoza (1-1) after retiring a third of the inning without allowing scores, and the loss went to the former Major League pitcher, Roberto Osuna (0-1), after tolerating two hits and the difference run in one inning.

At Monterrey, Ricardo Serrano hit a two-run RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Sultans came from behind and defeated the Tomateros de Culiacán 2-1.

Juan Ramón Noriega (1-0) retired a blank tackle in relief work and benefited from his team’s reaction to the offense to win the game. Adrián Castillo (0-1) took the loss by tolerating the decisive run in a relay with no outs.

At Navojoa, Roel Santos broke a tie with an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth and the Mayos beat the Aguilas de Mexicali 2-1.

Asael Sánchez went 3-for-4 with a solo homer to stand out on the Mayos’ offense.

Carlos Bustamante (1-0) retired a blank inning in relief work to claim the victory, while the reverse went to Isaac Jiménez’s record (1-1) after allowing the run of the difference in his work of two thirds.

At Ciudad Obregón, Niko Vázquez responded with a two-run RBI single with two out in the top of the 10th and the Hermosillo Naranjeros beat the Yaquis 5-3.

Nick Torres was 4-2 with a solo homer while Jasson Atondo was 4-2 with a double and two RBIs to excel in the Naranjeros’ offense.

Jeffrey Singer won (1-0) after throwing a blank inning with two fans. Star Fernando Salas made his second save with a scoreless inning. The setback went to Mario Meza (0-1) after allowing three touchdowns and three hits in two innings.

In Los Mochis, the scheduled duel between the Cañeros and the Algodoneros de Guasave was suspended due to bad weather and will be played on Wednesday as part of a doubleheader of matches cut to seven episodes.
