(EFE) – The Brazilian team, with the support of its audience in the stands, took a giant step towards Qatar this Thursday by obtaining 57 percent of the possible points in the South American Qualifiers with a 4-1 win in Manaus over Uruguay.

The tenth victory prolonged Brazil’s undefeated match in the twelfth of the eighteen qualifying rounds and kept its distance from Argentina, the second classified team, six points away.

Luis Suárez discounted for La Celeste with a free kick in the 77th minute.

The game was the first with an audience for the Brazilian team since the beginning of the pandemic and the 12,500 tickets for vaccinated fans were sold out as soon as they were put on sale.

Neymar was the figure of the match and had participation in all the clear chances of attack, almost always accompanied by Raphinha, who played for the first time as a starter in the place of Gabigol.

The first goal came at 9 minutes, in a play started by midfielder Fred and capitalized on by Neymar.

In the 17th minute, in a cross between Lucas Paquetá and Neymar, the rebound was left over for Raphinha, who thus scored his first goal for Canarinha.

Uruguay, which had the reappearance as head of Edinson Cavani, tried to react with Nicolás De la Cruz, Rodrigo Betancur, Matías Vecino and Matías Viña, but Neymar and Raphinha continued to insist, as did Lucas Paquetá and Gabriel Jesús, who were able to increase the advantage before the end of the first half, but they were not accurate.

For the complementary period, coach Óscar Wáshington Tabárez moved several of his chips from the start, but the changes did not give him the expected result and the team did not react on the field of play.

The second half began with side and side attacks, which featured Federico Valverde and Sebastián Coates and locals Fred, Raphinha and Gabriel Jesús, with archers Éderson and Fernando Muslera as figures.

The third goal and the second with the signature of Raphimha came in 58 minutes, in a combination between Gabriel Jesús and Neymar that the attacker of the British Leeeds gained in speed to beat Muslera.

The newly admitted Gabigol demanded Muslera in the 64th minute, after a brilliant play by the also admitted Antony, who after joined with Neymar to seek to increase the advantage.

Uruguay, with almost no scoring chances, managed to discount in the 76th minute on a free kick taken by Suárez.

Brazil reacted and increased the difference in the 82nd minute with a goal from Gabigol, after a magical pass from Neymar and the VAR ratified the forward’s position to score the fourth.

On matchday number 13, scheduled for November 11, Uruguay will host Argentina in Montevideo and Brazil will do the same in Sao Paulo with Colombia.
