Ignacio ‘La Jaula’ Bahamondes (12-4) will have his third fight within the UFC on February 26, as sources confirmed to ESPN Deportes that the promoter plans to face him with the Chinese Rong Zhu (18-4) in a venue still to be confirm.

In a duel of lightweight prospects, both are 1-1 in the octagon. The South American comes from knocking out Roosevelt Roberts in the third round of their fight on August 21, with a spinning kick that earned him the bonus and candidacy for knockout of the year.

The Asian obtained his first victory against Brandon Jenkins only on September 18 also by way of knockout in the third round, after having lost in his debut against Mexican Rodrígo ‘Kazula’ Vargas at UFC 261, a night in which he broke a streak of 10 wins in a row, all by completion.

Bahamondes, 24, lives in Chicago, where he trains with Mexican coach Mike Valle along with colleagues like Julianna Peña, Belal Muhammad or Carlos Hernández, who received his contract this month at the Dana White’s Contender Series in the same way that The Chilean did it in 2020 with a spectacular front kick on Edson Gómez.

Rong Zhu, just 21 years old, moved to Florida to work with the American Top Team after taking part in the UFC’s development program in China.
