The VAR audios of the controversies of Argentina vs. Peru

The Argentine National Team defeated Peru 1-0 at the Monumental stadium and was affirmed as 2nd. in the South American Qualifiers, but there were two controversial situations, which in both cases the VAR gave against the local.

CONMEBOL released the audios of the video arbitration:

The first situation was in the first half, when Pedro Gallese crossed and stepped on Lautaro Martínez to clear the ball in the small area. Was there a penalty? The Brazilian referee Wilton Sampaio did not give it, after the review that said the following:

“He (for the goalkeeper) played the ball and the forward came with his leg. It was an occasional move.”

“He played the ball first and then the striker came with his foot and there was an occasional contact caused by both of them,” sentenced the VAR.

The other controversial situation led to the penalty against Argentina, which Yoshimar Yotún later failed. Draw Martínez went out to the large area to cross the attack of Jefferson Farfán and the Peruvian striker ended up on the ground.

The VAR interpreted: “He comes with his leg and touches it (by Draw)”

“Play with your knee”, He confirmed the referee to give the maximum penalty.
