Mayfield would like to be ready to face the Steelers at the end of October
Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield informed Fox Sports who suffered a fracture in his left shoulder, in addition to the tear.
Mayfield added that the fracture in his shoulder, “impedes the function of the rotator cuff.”
“I need the fracture to know to come back,” Mayfield said shortly before the Browns game began Thursday night against Denver Broncos He wants to return to face the Steelers on October 31.
Mayfield suffered the tear in Week 2 but exacerbated the injury again in Sunday’s loss to Arizona. After Cardinals defensive end JJ Watt dug Mayfield’s left shoulder into the grass, he remained on the ground for several minutes before returning to end the game.
Mayfield practiced on Tuesday and promised to play Denver. But fI was ruled out on Wednesday and alternate Case Keenum was announced as the starter.
“If I can’t … be 100 percent, I’ll be out,” Mayfield said before practice Tuesday. “I have to make that decision. Only I know how my body feels. If someone asks if I am hindering the team by getting injured, it is not correct. It is my decision. I can say if I am able to do it, play or not, and that is what it is”.
