Racing Club started a new stage this Thursday: Fernando Gago led his first training session at the head of the professional team and on Sunday, in Rosario, he will have his official debut against Central.
The former midfielder replaces Claudio Úbeda, who was interim coach after the dismissal of Juan Antonio Pizzi on August 9.
According to information from Gonzalo Cardozo in SportsCenter AM, the election of the new coach was taken almost unilaterally by President Víctor Blanco, which caused discomfort in the rest of the leadership.
Although the news leaked days ago, just this Thursday morning, Racing made official the arrival of Gago to the position. The brand new coach arrived very early at the club to see the facilities and then appeared before the Academy staff.
Gago will be accompanied by Federico Insúa (field assistant), Roberto Luzzi (physical trainer) and the rest of his collaborators: Gustavo Gallego, Gastón Maddoni and Diego Cogliandro.
With only two training sessions, the new coach will have his presentation on Saturday at 20:15 against Rosario Central, for the League Tournament.
