Albert Pujols breaks bad streak in the game in which the Dodgers needed him most

The World Series goes exclusively to all of Central America through ESPN signals

Prior to Game 5 of the National League Championship Series, first baseman Albert pujols had only singled in all games against Los angeles dodgers and his slump came from Game 4 in the Division Series against the Giants.

Even the Dominican had been looking bad in his at-bats and many questioned the decision (like many others) of the manager Dave Roberts to insist with a man on his way to 42 years.

In their defense, the defending champs have been constantly plagued by injuries, the latest being third baseman Justin Turner, who could be out for the remainder of the team’s season.

But the game of life and death came for the Dodgers and the Dominican made use of all his experience and his quality with the wood to be key in the victory.

Yes, the hero of the match was undoubtedly Chris taylor with his historic 3-homer night, which according to MLB Stats becomes the second player in the postseason to hit a trio of homers, at least 4 hits and 6 RBIs in a game. The other? Albert pujols in Game 3 of the 2011 World Series.

Also noteworthy is the achievement of AJ Pollock with two home runs and four RBIs, and thus this couple became the first in MLB history to hit five home runs in a postseason game.

And in the middle of all this appeared a Pujols who looked calmer and more patient at the plate than in his first at bat, counting 3 balls and 2 strikes against Max Fried, he singled to left field that preceded the first homer of Taylor.

In the bottom of the fifth, after 7 pitches he got a transfer and again Taylor drove in with a 415-foot home run to center field.

In the process “The Machine” became the oldest player (41 years, 278 days) to reach at least 3 bases in a postseason game, since his compatriot did. Julius Caesar Franco in 2003 with 45 years and 42 days.

Although the Dodgers do not need the superstar Pujols who will no longer return, they will appreciate having a veteran bat who can create dangerous situations against the Braves who will seek to avoid repeating the history of the 2020 Championship Series.

Remember that you will be able to see all the games of the World Series in Central America, exclusively on ESPN.
