Rodrigo Etchart retired from Los Pumas 7's

Rodrigo Etchart confirmed that he withdrew from The Pumas 7’s, so he will not continue playing with the Argentine team of Seven. The historic player decided to step aside: “I have it in my head for a while, but I’m going to stop being in the Seven team,” he said.

Etchart was part of both Olympic Games with the selected one (Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020) and the bronze medal was hung in the last contest in Japan, in which Los Pumas 7’s defeated nothing more and nothing less than South Africa in the quarterfinals.

“ANDIt’s a pretty tough and difficult time, but for personal reasons and a life decision, I decided to step aside with Seven. The decision appeared a year, a year and a half ago. We always talk about enjoying, leaving everything, and at one point in my head I stopped enjoying certain parts. Certain workouts or some muscle aches from some injuries I had. The Olympics were an obsession. It was a whole process that started a year ago, “he said at Casa Pumas.

In his career with Los Pumas 7’s on the World Sevens Tour, Etchart managed to score 307 points (he is in 14th place in the national team’s historical table), and supported 61 tries (he is in eighth place in the table). At the same time he made 206 tackles. In total, in the Circuit and the Olympic Games, Etchart played 181 games with the Los Pumas 7’s shirt.
