(EFE) – Bayern maintained the dynamics of their last matches and beat Hoffenheim 4-0 this Saturday, a result that allows them to retain the leadership of the Bundesliga after their two closest pursuers, Borussia Dortmund and Freiburg , they will also win their matches.
Dortmund, without the injured Erling Haaland, defeated Arminia Bielefeld 1-3 away from home with goals from Emre Can, Mats Hummels and Jude Bellingham, while Freiburg won a 2-0 victory at Wolfsburg.
Dortmund are one point behind Bayern and Freiburg, two behind the leader.
With coach Julian Nagelsmann directing his team from home – he is isolated by coronavirus – Bayern made five changes to the starting XI from the one they beat Benfica 4-0 on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League.
Bayern had scoring chances to achieve an even more impressive result. In the second minute came the first with a Lewandowski shot that went deflected brushing a post. In the 8th, after a steal by Musiala on the edge of the area, Gnabry scored, but the VAR canceled the goal due to a previous foul.
The 1-0 was not long in coming. It was scored by Gnabry in the 16th minute.
The last pass came from Musiala’s feet, but before that there was a combination that Upamecano started from the middle of the field and then Omar Richards, Thomas Müller and Joshua Kimmich extended, along the entire edge of the area, from left to right, before the final touch of Gnabry.
Bayern played at will, they allowed little behind and in front they wanted more.
The second goal was signed by Lewandowski in the 30th minute, in a counterattack play. Gnabry recovered the ball near the Bavarian area, hit a long pass that Lewandowski extended with a head to Müller, who returned the ball to the Pole and he scored from about 20 meters.
The second half started in the same vein and before the first minute Gnbary had a great chance from Müller’s pass, but found a good save from Oliver Baumann.
Then there was a phase in which Bayern lowered the intensity a bit. There was a good chance from Bebou in the 50th minute and a deflected shot from Skov from outside the area. Hoffenheim were able to get back into the game.
But Bayern pressed again. In the 75th minute Kingsley Coman had a good chance inside the box, but his shot went wide. In 80, goalkeeper Oliver Baumann reacted with a great save to a Choupo-Moting header.
In the 82nd minute, on the next corner kick, the sentence arrived. An unfortunate clearance from the Hoffenheim defense hit Marcel Sabitzer on the back and the ball fell to Choupo Moting, who finished from close range.
Seven minutes later, after a good deep pass from Upamecano, Coman increased the count.
RB Leipzg also thrashed today by defeating bottom row Fürth 1-4 at home.
With the defeat, Leverkusen lost the second place that Borussia Dortmund now occupies, one point less than Bayern.
