ATLANTA – Right-hander Walker Buehler will start for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series on Saturday against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park, the Californian team reported.
Buehler, who allowed two runs and four hits Tuesday in Game 3, will pitch earlier than planned as right-hander Max Scherzer continues to have shoulder fatigue, a condition he felt last Sunday in Game 2.
Scherzer, who worked 4 1/3 innings in his previous presentation, said he felt his “dead arm” after throwing 79 pitches three days after relieving in the final game of the division series against the San Francisco Giants.
Atlanta, which leads 3-2 in the NL final, is scheduled to start Game 6 with Ian Anderson.
Scherzer and Buehler are two of the top NL Cy Young Award nominees this season. The latter was 16-4 with a 2.47 ERA in 33 starts during the regular series and has a 3-2 career record with a 2.62 ERA in 14 postseason starts.
