Although he ended up with the thorn for not having been able to take the WTA 250 title from Tenerife, Camila Osorio (63rd) ends a season that concludes with outstanding performances, with a marked rise in the ranking and with enough energy to face a new year with great challenges.
The 19-year-old Colombian comes to close a great week in Tenerife, where he missed the title in the final after falling to the American Ann Li (60th) by 6-1 and 6-4. Despite the defeat, what better way than to close the year with a final!
In the last year, Osorio climbed more than 120 positions, which shows the growth he had in the circuit. It should be remembered that in April he had consecrated nothing more and nothing less than in his country, in the WTA 250 in Bogotá, which meant his first title.
The decision to end the season, even though there are still some tournaments to be played, is due to the discomfort in your abdomen with which he ended up in Tenerife. Thus, he decided not to appear in Cluj-Napoca or Linz and finish his tennis year.
This year was the first in which he was in the Grand Slam: at Roland Garros he managed to get into the main draw and he was fired in the first round; at Wimbledon, from the qualy, reached the third wheel; and at the US Open, he fell to second.
In this sense, Osorio will climb to position No. 53 and says goodbye to 2021 that will surely be more than positive from the balance sheet, with great sensations within the circuit.
