On her fourth attempt, Raducanu earned her first WTA win

Emma raducanu a weight was lifted off him. In the first round of Transylvania she defeated the Slovenian Polona Hercog (124 of the world) by 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 and scored her first success in events belonging to the WTA Tour, after having fallen in the debut in Nottingham, San José and Indian Wells.

Releasing her record of victories on the major women’s tennis circuit was the goal of the US Open champion for the remainder of the season; and in Cluj Napoca he did it with a hard-working win. Previously the British Harriet Dart (in Nottingham), the Chinese Shuai Zhang (San José) and the Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (Indian Wells) had denied it. In turn, all those falls had been in straight sets. Although of course, in the middle he won nothing more and nothing less than the title at Flushing Meadows.

This time, on Transylvania’s in-door hard court, Raducanu raised a tough battle against Hercog after giving up the first set and ran with another fate. Decreasing the amount of unforced errors in the second and third sets and showing a really good level on the close, he got into the round of 16. His next stumbling block in Romania, his father’s place of origin, will be local Anna Bogdan (106th).
