BBWAA Announces MLB Awards Schedule

ATLANTA – – The Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) revealed the dates on which the winners of last season’s Major League Baseball Outstanding Players awards will be announced on Thursday.

The three finalists for each award will be announced on Monday, November 8 on the BBWAA website.

The winners of each line in each league (Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year, Cy Young and Most Valuable Player) will be announced, in that same order, between Monday 15 and Thursday 18 at 6 p.m. ET in a special program of the major league television channel.

Several Latin Americans are considered important candidates in various lines, in both leagues.

The Dominicans Vladimir Guerrero Jr., of the Toronto Blue Jays; José Ramírez, of the Cleveland Indians, and Rafael Devers, of the Boston Red Sox, and Venezuelan receiver Salvador Pérez, of the Kansas City, are some of the contenders for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the American League, which has as favorite to the Japanese Shohei Ohtani, of the Los Angeles Angels.

The Dominicans Fernando Tatis Jr., of the San Diego Padres, and Juan Soto, of the Washington Nationals, fight for the MVP of the National League with the American Bryce Harper, of the Philadelphia Phillies, mainly.

Mexican left-hander Julio Urías of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League is the Latino pitcher best positioned to receive Cy Young attention. Venezuelan right-hander Luis Garcia of the Houston Astros and Cuban outfielders Randy Arozarena of the Tampa Bay Rays and Adolis Garcia of the Texas Rangers participate in the fight for the American League Rookie of the Year.

The Rays’ Dominican infielder Wander Franco was promoted a little late in the season, but still had time to impact his team’s advance to the postseason.

Puerto Rican driver Alex Cora, who led the Boston Red Sox to the National League Championship Series, should receive attention in the Young Circuit’s Manager of the Year vote.
